Bryn Gay

Bryn Gay joined as Constituency Focal Point in September 2023. She is a human rights activist and community organizer with 20+ years of experience in global health, HIV, hepatitis C, equitable access to medicines, and international development. Previously, she was the Hepatitis C Project Director at Treatment Action Group where she led community engagement efforts aimed at centering the voices of marginalized and affected communities in the research and development of hepatitis C treatments and long-acting medicines. She served on global and national coalitions and steering committees to shape HIV and hepatitis C guidelines, facilitated community advisory board meetings to influence access and licensing policies with pharmaceutical and diagnostics stakeholders, and campaigned for increased global funding.

She has prior experience with the United Nations Development Programme and The North-South Institute, providing trade and sustainable development research and policy support to low- and middle-income countries. With Doctors of the World, Bryn managed humanitarian projects that supported public health systems with essential medical services to refugee and displaced peoples in Tindouf, Algeria and Cité Soleil, Haïti. Her campaigns with the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) in New York demanded affordable access to PrEP and the hepatitis C cure, housing solutions for LGBTQ+ youth, and expanded harm reduction services. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Anthropology from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Globalization, with a focus on global trade and access to medicines, from McMaster University in Canada. She is based in New York City, United States.
